What you'll study

Instruction blends design thinking, technical skill and artistic exploration. Students learn to apply architectural design principles to real‑world problems, integrate art, technology, history and science into design, and develop human‑centered, context‑sensitive solutions. The program is project focused and studio based, with early exposure to professionals and iterative critique.

Entry requirements

The accelerated path combines a 130 undergraduate credit hour Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a 38 graduate credit hour Master of Architecture. Samford’s documentation notes that Doctor of Architecture and Master of Architecture programs may accept applicants with a non‑accredited undergraduate degree in architecture; such a non‑accredited degree by itself is not recognized as an accredited professional degree. The department has been granted NAAB candidacy (Initial Candidacy awarded Spring 2023) toward NAAB accreditation.

Career prospects

Graduates commonly pursue professional practice as licensed architects, and the degree also supports careers in related built‑environment roles: landscape architecture, urban planning, industrial and furniture design, sustainable design consulting, facilities management, project management and design strategy. The MArch is typically considered a terminal degree for academic careers in many institutions.
