Students complete a 120 semester-hour degree that includes a concentrated history component. The programme requires a minimum of 36 semester hours in history courses, of which at least 18 hours must be at the 300- or 400-level. Majors develop research skills needed to produce a historical thesis or argument and the curriculum places significant emphasis on effective written communication. Students must also complete 12 credit hours in a foreign language.
To remain in the major students must achieve a minimum grade of C in required history courses, maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a 2.75 GPA in History courses. The programme totals 120 semester hours of university coursework.
