What you'll study

Coursework blends pharmaceutical sciences and clinical training. Students take classes in biology, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice as part of the pre‑professional component (for 2+4 entrants) and then move into the professional curriculum. The program requires two introductory practice experiences, six advanced rotations across required settings, and two elective rotations. Concentration options allow focused coursework and a dedicated Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience in an area like Wellness and Integrative Medicine.

Entry requirements

UNE offers two primary entry routes. The Pharm.D. 2+4 pathway begins with two years of pre‑professional coursework to satisfy prerequisites in biology, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice before matriculating into the professional curriculum. The Direct Entry Pharm.D. is for applicants who have already completed all required pre‑pharmacy coursework; a bachelor’s degree is not required if prerequisites are met. The program participates with PharmCAS for professional admissions (example timeframe shown for a Fall 2027 start: PharmCAS opens July 18, 2026, and has a final application deadline of June 1, 2027).

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for roles across more than 100 pharmacy fields. The program frames pharmacists as medication experts, wellness consultants and primary care contributors able to work in community and ambulatory care, clinical settings, research and other practice areas. Experiential rotations and interprofessional training are intended to ready students for patient‑centered, team‑based roles.
