What you'll study

The course has a common core across the first two semesters, specialist modules in the third semester and thesis plus clinical placement in the fourth semester. Teaching formats include lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, laboratory work, written assignments and individual and group presentations.

• Specialist directions/specialisations: Advanced Emergency & Intensive Care (with subspecialties: Advanced Emergency & Intensive Care; Intensive Cardiology Care), Advanced Mental Health Nursing, Advanced Community Health Nursing, Advanced Oncology Nursing.
• Learning outcomes: autonomous management of complex clinical problems (including chronic and emergency cases); clinical assessment and care planning; formulation of therapeutic regimens; professional autonomy and interprofessional collaboration; leadership, communication and teaching within care teams; evidence‑based clinical practice; and skills to design and conduct methodologically valid research and prepare protocols and publications.
• Assessment and completion: successful completion of modules, clinical practice and an original Master’s thesis supervised by a Department academic member.

Entry requirements

The programme primarily targets graduates with a university degree in Nursing. Holders of university degrees in other health sciences or related disciplines may be considered according to published admission criteria and any additional requirements set by the Department’s Postgraduate Studies Committee. The languages of instruction are Greek and English.

• Partial recognition of ECTS may be requested by candidates with more than five years' clinical experience in the relevant field or holders of post‑registration diplomas or certificates in a related postgraduate nursing specialty; recognition decisions are made by the Department’s Postgraduate Studies Committee after assessing transcripts and syllabi and may include interview or examination.
• Intake per speciality is determined by the Committee and typically ranges from 20–30 students; applicants from related disciplines do not occupy the nursing‑designated places beyond a 15% cap per speciality.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for roles as advanced clinical nurses or health professionals working in specialist clinical practice, education, clinical leadership and service administration. The programme also equips candidates with the research skills required to progress to doctoral study.
