What you'll study

Coursework is tailored to each student based on their existing MSN. The certificate requires completion of all FNP clinical courses plus Advanced Pathophysiology, Advanced Pharmacology, and Advanced Physical Assessment when those courses are not already present on the student’s graduate transcript. Total credit hours may be up to 46 depending on prior graduate coursework.

Entry requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution with a nationally accredited school of nursing.
• Current, unencumbered Georgia registered nurse (RN) license. (A copy of the license must be provided if accepted.)
• One year of post-licensure clinical work experience in the United States is preferred.
• Required supplemental materials: professional resume. If accepted, students must submit an accident/wellness waiver, evidence of current CPR certification, criminal background check, and a completed Department of Nursing medical form prior to the first day of the initial semester.
• Application process notes: submit the online graduate application and non-refundable $40 fee, provide official transcripts from all institutions attended, and verify lawful presence in the U.S. The FNP program does not permit admission of F-1 visa students. International transcripts require a course-by-course evaluation from a recognized credential service.

Career prospects

Completion of the certificate provides the educational preparation needed to apply for FNP professional licensure and certification where applicable. The university notes its programs meet educational requirements for licensure and certification in Georgia, but graduates should verify whether the certificate meets licensure or certification requirements in other states before relying on interstate portability.
