The BA in Art History is a 120-credit-hour undergraduate degree delivered in English in Rome. The curriculum emphasizes direct encounters with art and material culture, interdisciplinary approaches (history, politics, gender, law, curation), small seminar teaching, and research-led instruction culminating in an independent Senior Thesis.

What you'll study

Study moves from four foundation courses into a broad choice of mid- and upper-level classes that span antiquity to the contemporary. Core emphases include formal and material analysis, time and space, and issue-based investigations rather than simple surveys. Many courses incorporate on-site teaching at museums, archaeological sites, and monuments. The program also includes an Art and Design course for practical experience and research and methodology courses that prepare students for the Senior Thesis.
