Programme overview

Micro-credentials are compact, outcome-focused learning offers that document competencies gained through short courses and training programmes. They are intentionally narrower in scope and shorter in duration than traditional diplomas and are designed to complement — not replace — macro-credentials. The University of Primorska prepared and had its first micro-credential courses accredited by the UP Senate on 17 December 2025, becoming the first Slovenian university to complete the formal approval process.

What you'll study

Learning in these programmes targets specific skills, knowledge and competencies tied to clearly defined learning outcomes. The portfolio was co-created by the university's pedagogical member institutions and the NEBAP Hub to respond to identified needs and to address at least one national or European strategic priority. UP currently offers 46 accredited short courses and training programmes for acquiring micro-credentials.

The development and pilot delivery of UP micro-credentials were supported by projects co-funded nationally and by European initiatives: nationally through the Green, Digital and Inclusive University of Primorska project co-funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the European Union under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, and internationally via the Transform4Europe (T4EU) alliance.
