Programme overview

The programme delivers comprehensive counselling training at Webster Geneva combining academic coursework with substantial supervised practice. Instruction is delivered approximately 70% in person and 30% online, with courses scheduled in the early evening to accommodate working and part-time students. The campus has operated this counselling programme for over 25 years and many alumni practise within Switzerland.

What you'll study

The MA comprises 16 courses: nine core courses, three core field-experience courses that together total 700 internship hours, and four electives selected from eight available options. Students may choose to pursue a research thesis in their second year. Much of the field experience can be completed at Webster’s on-campus counselling centre, where trainees work under faculty clinical supervision.

Career prospects

Graduates are eligible to apply for membership with the Swiss Counselling Association (SGfB), the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the European Association for Counseling (EAC). At Webster Geneva the SGfB accreditation permits students to register as Members in Training during the programme and become Active Members with the professional title “SGfB Counselor” upon degree completion. The course’s clinical hours and on-campus practicum equip students for professional counselling roles in community settings.
