Master Électronique — Outils Libres pour l'Instrumentation et les Systèmes Embarqués (ELISE)

DegreeMasters
FieldElectrical & Electronics Engineering

A specialised two-year Master (Bac+5) focused on digital electronics, embedded systems and instrumentation using open-source hardware and software. Suited to students with a Licence in electronics who want hands-on design and instrumentation skills and who may target industry engineering roles or research (including PhD).

What you'll study

  • Semesters 7–9: taught modules covering automatic control, electronic circuit design, multi-stage instrumentation (Instrumentation 1–3), microcontroller courses (Microcontrôleur 1–3), programmable logic (Circuit logique programmable 1–2), digital communications (Communications/Communication numérique 1–2), applications of embedded systems, networks and AI-related topics.
  • Practical emphasis: TP hours are significant across modules (many units list substantial TP hours), plus a transverse project each semester (Project S7, S8, S9) and ‘Outils pour le Projet’ sessions to support project work.
  • Semester 10: a mandatory six‑month internship (Stage) to be completed in industry or a laboratory.
  • Technical skills taught include advanced microcontroller programming (kernel development), Unix/Linux administration, FPGA design with VHDL, RF communications and antennas, electronic circuit design, instrument control, noise and A/D conversion, and signal/information processing — with and without artificial intelligence.

Entry requirements

Admission targets students with a Licence-level background in electronics. The programme seeks applicants who already have experience in analog electronics (circuits, instrumentation), digital electronics and microcontroller programming in C, and signal processing. A demonstrated interest or experience with libre/open-source tools (contributions, code on platforms such as GitHub) is valued. A good command of technical English is required; administrative admission and registration follow the university's admission portal.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for design and R&D positions such as electronics design engineer or member of a bureau d'étude in sectors including transport, energy, health, production, high-performance computing and defence. The course also supports roles that provide research support in academic laboratories and can lead to doctoral study (PhD) within affiliated research networks.

Scholarships & funding angle

The Master is available in alternance and initial formats. The university indicates there is no entry fee for scholarship holders; other registration fees for initial students follow the national regulation referenced by the institution. Prospective students should consult the university admissions pages and the school's scolarité office for up-to-date information on scholarships, alternance contracts and fee exemptions.
