A two-year graduate program that combines interpersonal, organizational and rhetorical study with qualitative and quantitative research methods. Suited for students seeking advanced communication skills for roles in leadership, healthcare, public service, nonprofit or further academic study (thesis track).
The curriculum divides into a 12-credit core and 24 credits of elective coursework, allowing an individualized plan after consultation with the program director. Core work advances theory and research methods; elective options let you focus on applied areas such as politics, health care, leadership, gender and intercultural relations, nonprofit management, organizational communication, and international relations.
The program prepares graduates for a broad set of roles where advanced communication skills are valued. Typical paths noted by the department include ministry; administration and organizational development; sales; corporate communications; consulting and training; intercultural relations; human resource development; health care; education; law; media and entertainment; public relations; and policy and public service.
