See the degree grade →An accelerated, CSWE-accredited MSW pathway for students who hold a BSW earned within the last five years. The program suits BSW graduates aiming to complete an MSW quickly and cost-effectively while preparing for licensure and practicum-based practice.
The program includes 31 credits taught over four semesters in a virtual learning environment. Instruction combines weekly live and asynchronous class sessions and twice-yearly intensive virtual residencies (two-day experiences held in August and January). Students complete practicum placements either in the New York City area or near their home community, arranged through Adelphi’s network of more than 1,000 human service agency affiliates.
Designed specifically for applicants who earned a BSW from an accredited social work program within the last five years. GRE scores are not required for admission.
Adelphi reports that more than 90% of its MSW graduates gain employment within a year of finishing the program. MSW holders commonly work in settings such as outpatient health care services, hospital inpatient facilities, schools (outside higher education), private social work practice and higher education. National projections cited by the program note a 7% projected growth for social workers (2023–2033); salary data referenced by the program indicates an average MSW salary of about $62,000 according to PayScale.
The Advanced Standing option explicitly reduces overall cost by design—students pay roughly half the cost compared with the traditional MSW at Adelphi because of the shortened credit and practicum load. Prospective applicants should ask the admissions office about additional institutional scholarships, payment plans, employer tuition assistance, and federal student aid eligibility for graduate study.
