Programme overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Formation & Ministry (CFM) at Friends University emphasizes personal spiritual formation alongside practical ministry experience. The curriculum is designed to shape students into Christlike leaders who can articulate their faith and participate actively in ministry and kingdom living. There is also a second-major pathway called Christian Spiritual Formation (CSF) intended to be paired with another primary degree.

Entry requirements

To join the program and be considered for associated scholarships you must apply and be admitted to Friends University, then complete the program application form. For scholarship eligibility you must intend to pursue the BA in Christian Formation & Ministry or a second major in Christian Spiritual Formation. Students must enroll in a CFM/CSF credit-earning course each semester to maintain the scholarship requirement noted by the program.

Career prospects

The CFM major serves as preparation for vocational ministry and for further study at seminary or ministry-focused graduate programs. Graduates commonly begin careers in churches (including roles such as pastor, youth pastor, spiritual formation or discipleship pastor), in para-church ministries, or in other Christian organizations where formation and pastoral skills are needed.

Friends University offers a dedicated CFM/CSF scholarship (up to $7,000) and institutional academic awards (up to $12,000) administered by Financial Aid. Applicants must apply to Friends University, submit the program application, and file the FAFSA to be considered for federal/state and additional institutional aid.
