What you'll study

The programme combines core subjects in construction project delivery with elective options that allow specialisation. Core topics typically include construction project management, cost estimating and cost control, construction scheduling and critical-path methods, contract administration and construction law, risk management and claims, construction safety and quality management, and building information modelling (BIM) and digital construction techniques.

Electives and studio work often let students focus on areas such as sustainable construction and green building practices, advanced procurement and supply-chain management, infrastructure and heavy civil construction, materials and methods, and lean construction. Many students complete a capstone project, practicum or research thesis that applies management frameworks to a real-world project, often in partnership with New York City firms or public agencies.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or another relevant discipline. Candidates with substantial professional experience in construction or related industries may also be considered, even if their undergraduate degree is in a different field. Typical application materials include official academic transcripts, a CV or résumé demonstrating relevant experience, a statement of purpose outlining professional goals and reasons for pursuing the degree, and academic or professional letters of recommendation. Some applicants may be asked for a portfolio if their background is in design or architecture. English language proof is required for applicants whose first language is not English.
