What you'll study

The programme combines core foundations in information science with applied electives and a culminating project or practicum. Core topics typically include data management and databases, information retrieval and search systems, programming for information professionals (commonly using Python or similar), research methods and statistics, and fundamentals of information architecture and human–computer interaction.

Elective options commonly cover subjects such as data analytics and visualisation, machine learning for information applications, cybersecurity and privacy, digital libraries and metadata, usability evaluation, and systems analysis and design. Students normally complete a capstone project, thesis or industry practicum that applies classroom learning to a real-world information problem.

Structure and delivery
