Entry requirements

Applicants normally need a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Professional experience in K–12 education is expected for many strands; some applicants may be required to hold or be pursuing initial teacher certification depending on the chosen specific-method stream. Typical supporting materials include academic transcripts, a personal statement outlining professional goals and interest in teacher education, one or more letters of recommendation (often including at least one from a current or recent supervisor), and a curriculum vitae or résumé.

Admissions may consider a minimum cumulative GPA and evidence of classroom or educational leadership experience; candidates whose first language is not English will need to meet the university’s English proficiency requirements. Specific programmes or strands may have additional requirements such as a portfolio, videotaped teaching sample, or interview.
