What you'll study

The programme builds a strong foundation in microeconomic theory, macroeconomic context and applied econometrics, and then applies those tools to environmental and resource questions. Core coursework typically covers advanced microeconomics, public economics, and empirical methods (econometrics), while concentration courses address environmental valuation, benefit–cost analysis, resource and energy economics, climate change economics, environmental regulation and policy instruments.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably with substantial quantitative preparation. Typical background includes intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, calculus, and introductory statistics or econometrics. A strong quantitative record, a statement of purpose explaining interest in environmental economics and policy, a current CV, and academic references are normally required.

Standard application components include official transcripts and letters of recommendation. Programmes may request GRE scores or other evidence of quantitative aptitude in some cases; international applicants should demonstrate English language proficiency according to university requirements.
