What you'll study

This master's combines core ecological and resource-management topics with quantitative methods and applied research. Students study modules such as conservation biology and landscape ecology, ecosystem management, natural resource policy and law, GIS and remote sensing for environmental applications, and statistical methods for ecological data. Practical training includes field methods, habitat assessment, sampling design and laboratory techniques, and there is a substantial independent research project or professional practicum that allows students to apply skills to real-world conservation problems.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a relevant bachelor's degree (for example in biology, ecology, environmental science, forestry, geography or a closely related field) from an accredited institution. A solid grounding in ecological principles, basic statistics and quantitative reasoning is normally required. Typical application materials include official transcripts, a statement of purpose outlining research or career aims, two or three academic or professional references, and a curriculum vitae.

International applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through an accepted test or equivalent qualifications. Where quantitative preparation is limited, applicants may be advised to take prerequisite undergraduate coursework prior to or during the early stages of the programme.
