What you'll study

The programme focuses on the analysis, design and implementation of enterprise-scale computer systems. Core topics typically include systems analysis and design, software engineering principles, database design and administration, computer networks and distributed systems, and systems integration. Students also study modelling and requirements engineering, human–computer interaction, performance analysis and optimisation, and secure systems development.

Most students follow a mix of required courses and electives, allowing specialisation in areas such as cloud and distributed computing, cybersecurity, data management and analytics, or enterprise architecture. Practical components include team-based project work, a capstone design project or practicum with an industry partner, and opportunities to apply tools and platforms commonly used in industry (for example, modern DBMSs, cloud services, containerisation and orchestration, and systems modelling tools).

The programme emphasises both technical depth and the ability to communicate technical solutions to non‑technical stakeholders, covering topics such as project management, requirements elicitation, and cost/benefit analysis for technology investments.

Entry requirements

Applicants are generally expected to hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in computer science, software engineering, information systems, computer engineering or a closely related field. Candidates with degrees in other disciplines who can demonstrate substantial computing coursework or professional experience may also be considered.

Typical application materials include a completed application form, official academic transcripts, a current CV or résumé, a statement of purpose explaining academic and career objectives, and one or more letters of recommendation. Standardised test requirements (such as the GRE) may be optional or waived depending on the applicant’s background and qualifications. Applicants whose first language is not English must submit evidence of English proficiency through recognised tests or qualifying institutional alternatives.
