What you'll study

The programme combines core journalism skills with specialised investigative techniques. You will study news writing and reporting, investigative reporting methods, media law and ethics, data journalism, long-form narrative, and multimedia production (audio, video and web). Emphasis is placed on source development, public-records research, advanced interviewing, document analysis, Freedom of Information laws, and collaborative project work.

• Editing and Newsroom Management – copyediting, fact-checking, and coordinating multi-platform investigative projects.
• Capstone/Investigative Project – a sustained, supervised investigative project suitable for publication or broadcast; often produced collaboratively and requiring public-records research and ethical review.
• Internship/Practicum – placement with regional newsrooms, public-interest organisations or digital media outlets to gain real-world reporting experience.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to have completed secondary education with solid grades and demonstrated proficiency in English.
