What you'll study

The MPA curriculum blends core public administration theory with applied practice to develop management, analytical and ethical decision‑making skills. Typical modules include Public Administration Theory; Public Policy Analysis; Public Financial Management and Budgeting; Research Methods for Public Affairs; Ethics and Leadership in the Public Sector; Human Resource Management in Government; Nonprofit Management and Grant Writing; and Strategic Planning and Performance Measurement.

Students engage in case studies, simulations and project work that reflect current challenges in local, state and national public service. Many pathways include a capstone project or practicum in which students design or evaluate a real programme, policy or organisational initiative. Course delivery is often available in flexible formats to accommodate working professionals, including evening, hybrid or online classes led by faculty with practical public‑sector experience.

Entry requirements

• A recognised undergraduate degree (bachelor's) from an accredited institution. Candidates with degrees in other fields are welcome; some programmes expect foundational coursework or preparatory modules if professional background is limited.
• A competitive undergraduate GPA. Applicants with substantial relevant work experience may be considered for admission even if their GPA falls below typical thresholds.
• A current CV or résumé documenting professional experience in public, nonprofit or related sectors.
• A personal statement describing professional goals, reasons for pursuing the MPA and how the programme aligns with career aims.
• Two professional or academic references. International applicants must meet English language proficiency requirements through recognised test scores or approved institutional evidence.
• Some applicants may be invited to interview as part of the selection process; conditional admission with bridge coursework can be offered in selected cases.

Graduates of the MPA typically move into leadership and management roles across public and not‑for‑profit sectors. Common career paths include municipal or county administration, policy analyst or advisor roles, programme and project management for government agencies, nonprofit executive or development manager, grant manager, community development specialist and public affairs or advocacy positions.
