What you'll study

The programme combines core public health training with specialised coursework in veterinary epidemiology and zoonotic disease control. Core MPH modules typically include epidemiologic methods, biostatistics, principles of environmental and occupational health, public health policy and ethics. Veterinary-focused modules cover infectious disease ecology, surveillance systems for animal populations, outbreak investigation and control, diagnostic epidemiology, risk analysis and One Health approaches to disease management.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, laboratory sessions, case studies and applied fieldwork. Students complete practical assignments such as outbreak simulation exercises, surveillance data analysis and a practicum placement with a relevant public or animal health agency. The degree may be available with thesis or non-thesis (capstone) options depending on research interests and career goals.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine, animal science, biology, public health or a closely related discipline. Admissions committees look for academic readiness in quantitative subjects; prior coursework in statistics, epidemiology or microbiology is advantageous. Practical experience in clinical settings, laboratory work, public health agencies or animal health programmes strengthens an application.

Applicants for whom English is not a first language must demonstrate proficiency in English through recognised tests. Some pathways may request reference letters, a personal statement outlining research or career objectives, and evidence of relevant professional experience.
