What you'll study

This programme is research-focused: applicants for the research mode must submit a research proposal of approximately 1,000–1,500 words with their application. Study consists principally of supervised independent research leading to a thesis; instruction and assessment language may be Arabic, English or Malay.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor Degree; holders of a Higher National Diploma may be considered subject to meeting programme-specific requirements. Language requirements depend on medium of instruction: for Arabic medium an IALTS score of at least Band 6.0 or a passing Arabic placement test is required; for English medium a Grade C6 in GCE O-Level English, a Grade C in IGCSE English (as a Second Language), or IELTS Band 6.0 (or TOEFL score as specified by the university) is required. Research-mode applications must include the required research proposal. Shortlisted applicants may be called for interview and applicants must satisfy other faculty requirements including possible Qur’an recitation assessment and medical fitness checks where applicable.
