What you'll study

This programme combines core computer science fundamentals with applied information technology skills. Early semesters cover programming fundamentals, discrete mathematics, data structures and introduction to computing systems. Core IT topics include networking and communications, operating systems, database design and administration, systems analysis and design, and cybersecurity principles.

Students move into more specialised and practical modules such as web and mobile application development, cloud computing basics, virtualization, enterprise systems, scripting and automation, and IT project management. The curriculum emphasises laboratory work and real‑world projects; many courses include hands‑on labs using current hardware and software, and there is typically a capstone project or senior design sequence where students develop an integrated solution.

Throughout the degree students are also exposed to professional skills such as technical documentation, teamwork, ethical and legal considerations in IT, and preparation for industry certifications (for example CompTIA, Cisco or vendor cloud credentials) where relevant. Electives and concentration options allow students to focus on areas such as cybersecurity, networking, software development or database administration.

• Completion of a recognised secondary school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated competence in mathematics — algebra and introductory functions are typically expected.
• Academic transcripts showing a record of relevant coursework; colleges generally consider overall academic performance and the strength of the applicant's programme of study.
• Some prior exposure to computing (such as a secondary school computing course, personal projects, or workplace experience) is advantageous but not always mandatory.
• Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the college's English language proficiency requirements through approved tests or recognised qualifications.

Graduates are prepared for a wide range of entry- to mid-level IT positions in private industry, government and non‑profit organisations. Typical job titles include IT support specialist, help desk technician, network administrator, systems administrator, database developer/administrator, web developer, junior software developer, and cybersecurity technician.

The applied nature of the programme and emphasis on internships/co‑op placements also helps graduates move into roles supporting cloud services, virtualization, and managed services environments, or transition into specialised areas such as penetration testing, network engineering or IT project coordination.
