This programme covers core information technology topics alongside a focused sequence of games development subjects. You will study programming and software engineering fundamentals, data structures and algorithms, computer graphics, maths for computing, and databases to build a solid technical foundation.
Games-specific modules typically include game engines and real-time rendering, physics for interactive applications, artificial intelligence for games, interactive and user-centred design, level and systems design, audio and animation for games, networking for multiplayer games, and optimisation techniques for consoles and mobile devices. Practical team projects run throughout the degree, with a major capstone/industry project in the final year that reflects studio-style production and often results in a playable prototype or portfolio piece.
Delivery emphasises hands-on labs, collaborative studio work, code reviews and industry-standard tools (game engines, graphics APIs, version control, profiling and build systems).
