What you'll study

Students can expect a mix of seminars, hands-on workshops, lesson planning labs and supervised classroom hours. Elective topics may include teaching young learners, content-based instruction, bilingual education, and teaching French as a foreign language depending on the chosen pathway.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold an accredited bachelor's degree and demonstrate a good academic record. Selection typically considers undergraduate performance, relevant coursework or experience in language teaching, and the applicant's statement of purpose.

Typical supporting documents include academic transcripts, one or more letters of recommendation, and a personal statement outlining professional goals and prior experience. Non-native English speakers will be asked to provide evidence of English language proficiency. For the French pathway, demonstrated proficiency in French or academic background in the language is normally required; some applicants may be asked to complete a placement assessment.

Teaching experience or experience working with language learners is advantageous but not always mandatory; some applicants enter from related fields and complete the programme to move into language teaching or specialist roles.
