What you'll study

The Natural Sciences programme is organised to provide breadth across the core scientific disciplines while allowing you to specialise through elective pathways and a capstone project. You will complete foundational courses in biology, chemistry and physics alongside mathematics (calculus and statistics) and courses in earth and environmental science. Practical laboratory classes and fieldwork are integrated throughout the curriculum to build experimental technique, data analysis and scientific communication skills.

• Core modules: introductory biology, general chemistry, introductory physics, calculus or quantitative reasoning, and introductory statistics.
• Intermediate modules: cellular and molecular biology, organic chemistry, classical mechanics/electricity and magnetism, ecology, and earth systems.
• Advanced / elective options: biochemistry, genetics, environmental chemistry, conservation biology, climate science, microbiology, physical chemistry, advanced laboratory methods and specialised seminars.
• Skills and methods: laboratory techniques, experimental design, instrumentation, data analysis using statistical and computational tools, scientific writing and presentation skills.
• Capstone / research: a senior research project, independent study or practicum with faculty supervision that integrates knowledge from multiple disciplines and emphasises hands‑on investigation.

Entry requirements

Admission to the Natural Sciences programme typically requires a completed secondary school qualification or equivalent. Applicants are expected to have studied mathematics and laboratory science at secondary level. Typical preparation includes courses in biology and/or chemistry and mathematics through precalculus or calculus.

Selection is based on academic record and supporting materials; additional factors such as letters of recommendation, a personal statement indicating interest in science, or examples of relevant experience (work, volunteering, or research) can strengthen an application. Transfer applicants and those with prior postsecondary study are considered on the basis of transcripts and course equivalence. International applicants must demonstrate comparable academic preparation and may need to show proficiency in English.
