What you'll study

This programme combines coursework in sustainability science, policy analysis, systems thinking and quantitative methods with applied experience. Core subjects typically include climate change science and adaptation, environmental economics, sustainability assessment, and sustainable urban systems. Students also study research methods such as data analysis, geographic information systems (GIS), life-cycle assessment and modelling of coupled human–natural systems.

• Academic background: a recognised bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as environmental science, engineering, economics, public policy, geography, or a related discipline.
• Transcripts: official academic transcripts demonstrating strong performance in previous study.
• Supporting materials: a statement of purpose outlining your interests and career goals, a current CV or résumé, and academic or professional references.
• Test scores: some applicants may be asked to submit GRE scores where required by the programme; English language proficiency proof is required for applicants whose first language is not English.
• Experience: relevant professional, volunteer or research experience in sustainability-related work is advantageous but not always mandatory; the admissions committee looks for evidence of quantitative aptitude, critical thinking and commitment to sustainability practice or scholarship.
