What you'll study

This MSc combines core accounting and finance theory with applied quantitative techniques and a substantial independent research project. Teaching draws on current research and professional practice to develop technical competence in financial reporting, corporate finance and financial markets alongside skills in analysis, communication and ethical practice.

• Core modules: typically include advanced financial reporting and analysis, management accounting and control, corporate finance and valuation, and financial markets and instruments.
• Quantitative and research methods: modules cover econometrics/quantitative methods for finance, financial modelling, and research methods to prepare for the dissertation.
• Optional modules: options commonly include topics such as taxation, auditing, risk management, international accounting, behavioural finance, and forensic accounting, allowing you to tailor the programme to career aims.
• Dissertation: a supervised independent research project or applied consultancy report that synthesises technical knowledge and research skills on a chosen accounting or finance topic.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good honours degree (for example a UK upper second-class, 2:1) or equivalent in accounting, finance, economics, business or a numerate subject. Candidates with a lower class degree plus relevant professional experience, or those with non-accounting backgrounds but strong quantitative ability, will also be considered on an individual basis.
