Early stages typically include seminars and coursework in research design and methods (qualitative, quantitative and doctrinal), advanced jurisprudence, comparative law, and specialised topics aligned to the candidate’s research focus (for example administrative law, regulation, corporate governance, public law, or legal ethics).

• Advanced substantive seminars: seminars tailored to the candidate’s field such as regulatory law, constitutional theory, corporate law, international law and professional responsibility.

Applicants are expected to hold a strong advanced legal qualification (such as a JD, LLB with honours, LLM or equivalent) and demonstrate significant research potential. Prior research experience, publication record, or significant professional experience in legal practice, public policy or related fields strengthen an application.
