What you'll study

The programme combines intensive English-language education with interdisciplinary training in literature, linguistics, cultural studies and global leadership. You will follow a core curriculum that emphasises academic English, critical reading and writing, and oral communication, together with modules addressing modern and contemporary English-language literatures, applied linguistics, translation and interpreting, and comparative cultural studies.

Students also take courses in global affairs, leadership and professional skills such as project management, negotiation and intercultural communication. Practical components include seminars, group projects, presentations, and a capstone research or applied project in the final year. Elective options allow you to pursue areas such as digital humanities, media studies, TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages), or Japan–global relations. Language study in Japanese is offered alongside English to support integration and regional engagement.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to have completed secondary education equivalent to a high-school diploma and to present a transcript of academic records. Selection typically involves assessment of academic achievement, a personal statement explaining motivation and goals, and letters of recommendation. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an interview or written task conducted in English.

Because the programme is taught in English, applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through recognised qualifications or other evidence of ability. International applicants should check the university’s guidance on acceptable proof of English ability and on any required documentation for international admission. Some familiarity with Japanese is advantageous but not mandatory for admission.
