What you'll study

This degree integrates accounting and finance topics with management theory and practice. During the early years you study foundational quantitative and business modules; later years let you specialise and apply technical skills to organisational problems.

• Core accounting: financial accounting principles, reporting and analysis, management accounting techniques for decision making, and the accounting cycle.
• Core finance: corporate finance, investment and portfolio theory, financial markets and institutions, and risk management.
• Management subjects: organisational behaviour, strategic management, marketing fundamentals, operations and project management.
• Quantitative and analytical methods: statistics, financial econometrics, spreadsheets and modelling for business applications.
• Law and ethics: business law and governance, professional ethics in accounting and finance, and sustainability considerations in corporate reporting.
• Optional and advanced modules: auditing, taxation, mergers and acquisitions, behavioural finance, corporate reporting, and entrepreneurship. Final-year options often include a major project or dissertation and applied consulting projects with external partners.
• Placement/year abroad: there are routes that include a year in industry or a year abroad, giving practical experience and international exposure.

Entry requirements

Typical entry is based on a strong set of A-levels or equivalent qualifications, ideally including Mathematics. The programme accepts a range of UK and international qualifications; applicants without traditional qualifications may be considered through recognised access or foundation routes. Applicants are expected to demonstrate numeracy, analytical ability and clear written communication. English language proficiency is required for non-native speakers and must meet the university's published standard.
