It suits students who want a versatile business education with opportunities for analytic training, applied projects and workplace experience to prepare for management and commercial careers or further study.
This programme provides a comprehensive foundation in key business disciplines while allowing increasing choice as you progress. In your first year you study core subjects that build quantitative and conceptual skills, such as introductory accounting and finance, microeconomics, principles of marketing, organisational behaviour, business statistics and academic skills for business.
Entry is based on a combination of qualifications, personal statement and references. Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised secondary school qualification such as A-levels, BTEC or an international equivalent. A quantitative subject (for example mathematics, further mathematics, statistics, economics or a numerate science) is often preferred or recommended because of the programme's analytical components.
Other acceptable evidence of ability can include advanced vocational qualifications, Access to Higher Education diplomas, or internationally recognised tests and school-leaving certificates. International applicants should demonstrate competence in English through accepted qualifications. Admissions decisions also take account of the personal statement, reference, and any relevant work or extracurricular experience; some applicants may be invited for interview or assessment.
Graduates of Business Management move into a wide range of commercial, public sector and third-sector roles. Typical graduate job titles include business analyst, management consultant, marketing executive, operations or supply chain coordinator, project manager, HR officer and graduate finance roles.
The degree also provides a route into specialist postgraduate study (for example in finance, marketing, management or data analytics) and professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CIPD and others, depending on chosen electives and career direction. Employer engagement, placement-year experience and the Management School's career support help many students secure graduate-level roles with consultancies, financial services firms, technology companies, manufacturers and start-ups.
