What you'll study

The programme combines practical production work with critical study to help you refine craft and build a professional portfolio. You will also engage with screen studies topics such as narrative form, genre, audience, and the business of screen production.

Teaching is studio-based and project-led: you will work on short films, documentaries, and multi-platform projects from development through to post-production. Modules often include intensive workshops in camera and lighting, hands-on editing and colour grading sessions, location production planning, and collaborative production units. Entry requirements

Applicants normally need a recognised undergraduate degree or an equivalent tertiary qualification. Candidates with substantial professional experience in screen production or a related creative industry may be considered if they can demonstrate equivalent learning through a portfolio and CV. You will be asked to submit a showreel or samples of work, a personal statement outlining your creative intentions, and references.

Selection typically emphasises demonstrated creative potential, technical competence and the suitability of your proposed focus for the resources of the programme. International applicants must meet Massey University's English language requirements and satisfy any visa conditions separately.
