What you'll study

The programme covers core valuation theory and applied practice across rural, residential and commercial property contexts. Teaching combines classroom-based theory, case studies and fieldwork to develop competency in market-based and income-based valuation methods, statutory and tenure considerations, and professional reporting.

• Valuation methods and practice: market comparison, income capitalisation, depreciated replacement cost and specialised property valuation techniques.
• Property law and tenure: land ownership, leases, easements, statutory requirements and implications for valuation.
• Economics and market analysis: property market drivers, supply and demand analysis, forecasting and risk assessment.
• Quantitative techniques and GIS: statistics for valuation, spatial analysis and use of geographic information systems in property assessment.
• Professional practice and ethics: report writing, standards of valuation practice, client management and the legal responsibilities of valuers.
• Project or practicum: an applied valuation assignment or supervised project that integrates field inspection, data analysis and formal reporting.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a bachelor's degree in surveying, property, commerce, agriculture, geography, construction or another relevant discipline. Applicants with substantial professional experience in property, local government, finance or allied fields may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

International applicants need to meet English language proficiency requirements as set by the university. Applicants should provide academic transcripts and a personal statement outlining their interest in valuation and relevant experience; referees may be requested for candidates admitted on the basis of professional experience.
