What you'll study

Typical modules cover research methods and statistics for sport, advanced coaching practice, strength and conditioning principles, performance monitoring and analytics, governance and governance of sport, sport development and community engagement, sport law and ethics, and project design for sport settings.

You can tailor study through elective papers and a substantial capstone research project or thesis that addresses a real-world issue in sport. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, laboratory and field-based practicals, supervised research, industry placements and applied workshops with practising coaches and managers.

Entry requirements

Applicants normally need a completed bachelor’s degree in sport science, exercise science, coaching, physical education, management or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification plus relevant professional experience in the sport sector. Candidates with extensive professional experience but without a formal degree may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Typical application documentation includes academic transcripts, a curriculum vitae, a personal statement outlining your study and career objectives, and the names of referees. International applicants must meet the university’s English language proficiency requirements; alternative English qualifications accepted by the university are considered equivalent.
