The Environmental Sciences BSc delivers an integrated curriculum in ecology, soil science, hydrology, environmental chemistry, and geographic information systems (GIS), together with courses in environmental policy, statistics and research methods. Core modules typically cover ecosystem structure and function, population and community ecology, water quality and watershed management, soil processes and land use, environmental toxicology, and applied field and laboratory techniques. Students gain practical experience through field courses, laboratory projects and mapping/GIS practicums; many also undertake a senior research project or honours thesis under the supervision of faculty.

The programme encourages interdisciplinary electives, allowing students to take additional courses in related areas such as wildlife biology, agricultural systems, environmental economics, and climate science. Options exist to develop specialised skills (for example in remote sensing, water resource modelling, or ecological restoration) depending on course selection and faculty supervision.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to have completed a secondary-school diploma with a strong science and mathematics background. Typical subject prerequisites include senior-level courses in English, mathematics (such as functions), and at least one laboratory science (biology, chemistry or physics). Admission is competitive and considers overall academic performance, the strength of prerequisite courses, and any relevant experience such as fieldwork, volunteering, or science-related extracurricular activities.

International and mature applicants should present equivalent academic credentials.
