What you'll study

The programme develops a firm grounding in core business disciplines — accounting and finance, marketing, organisational behaviour, strategy and quantitative methods — alongside specialist supply chain subjects such as operations management, logistics, procurement and inventory control. You will study how goods, information and money flow through networks, learn techniques for demand forecasting, process improvement and supplier management, and gain practical exposure to forecasting, inventory modelling and performance measurement.

Teaching typically combines lectures, seminars, case studies and practical workshops. Assessment is through a mix of coursework, group projects, presentations and exams. Many students undertake live consultancy projects with businesses and have the option to take a year-long professional placement or a period of study abroad to apply learning in a real-world context.

Entry requirements

Applicants usually need a combination of qualifications such as A-levels, BTEC, Scottish Highers or the International Baccalaureate. Typical offers expect successful performance in relevant subjects; mathematics at GCSE or equivalent is commonly required or strongly recommended because of the quantitative content of the course. Keele also considers mature applicants and those with relevant work experience, and welcomes a range of international qualifications.

Where English is not the first language, applicants will need to demonstrate English proficiency through an approved test or qualification. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to interview or to provide a personal statement outlining interest in business and supply chain topics.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for roles across private, public and third-sector organisations. Common graduate destinations include supply chain analyst, operations or logistics coordinator, procurement or buying assistant, inventory planner, transport planner and graduate management schemes in retail, manufacturing, 3PL (third‑party logistics) and FMCG companies. With experience, graduates move into roles such as supply chain manager, head of procurement, operations manager or consultant.

The degree also provides a solid foundation for postgraduate study in management, supply chain and logistics, operations research or related fields.
