Programme overview

Evergreen’s Master in Teaching (MiT) is a full-time, four-quarter program that awards a master’s degree plus a recommendation for Initial Teacher Certification in Washington state and two endorsements: a content-area endorsement and an English Language Learner (ELL/MLL) endorsement. New cohorts begin in Summer Quarter and complete the program the following Spring. The curriculum requires a total of 60 credits, including student teaching and a culminating end-of-program project.

What you'll study

The program blends core coursework and extended field experience. Candidates complete 34–40 credits of core courses and 20–26 credits of field-based coursework for a 60-credit total. Instruction emphasizes centering social justice, culturally responsive pedagogy, planning standards-aligned units, formative assessment strategies, and fostering inclusive classroom communities.
