Entry typically requires completion of secondary education or equivalent and submission of an application with academic transcripts. Programs often request a personal statement outlining commitment to social work values, and may ask for references. Because of placement requirements, applicants should be prepared for background checks, health clearances or other site-specific screenings prior to practicum.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for entry-level social work roles in settings such as child and family services, schools, healthcare facilities, community organizations, non‑profits and criminal justice agencies. Many pursue professional licensure at the bachelor level where available, or continue to a Master of Social Work (MSW) to qualify for clinical practice, supervisor roles, or specialized fields.
