The Civil Engineering Pre-Master's Programme at the University of Limerick is a comprehensive one-year course tailored for international students aiming to pursue postgraduate studies in Ireland. This programme focuses on enhancing essential skills such as academic English proficiency, research capabilities, and effective study methods necessary for success in a Master’s degree. Eligible students will have guaranteed progression to a suitable Master’s programme at one of the university's partner institutions, provided they meet specific degree requirements.
This full-time programme spans nine months and consists of various academic modules designed to promote postgraduate readiness. The modules include:
Assessment methods throughout the course include both formative and summative tasks, allowing students to experience diverse evaluation styles typical in Irish postgraduate education. To be eligible for the Civil Engineering Pre-Master's Programme, applicants must possess a completed bachelor’s degree that is equivalent to an Irish NFQ Level 7 in a relevant field, achieving a minimum second-class honours grade. Other qualifications may be assessed on an individual basis. Notably, GRE or GMAT scores are not required for this programme.
In terms of English language proficiency, candidates must demonstrate a minimum IELTS score of 5.5, with no individual component below 5.0.
