ARES Belgium Scholarships 2027–28: ~100 Fully Funded Awards for Professionals (Deadline September 18)

BRUSSELS, Belgium — September 1, 2026.

Belgium’s Académie de recherche et d’enseignement supérieur (ARES) has opened applications for its International Training Scholarships 2027–28, offering around 100 fully funded awards — and unlike most scholarships, these are aimed squarely at working professionals from developing countries, not fresh graduates. The final deadline is September 18, 2026 at 12:00 noon Belgian time, with a critical earlier cutoff on September 4 for new applicants.

What makes ARES different

For the 2027–28 academic year, around 100 scholarships are available across 10 specialised programmes — specialised Bachelor’s, specialised Master’s and continuing-education options. Applicants generally need at least 2 years of professional experience, and nationals of 32 partner countries are eligible.

What the scholarship covers

  • Tuition: covered according to programme conditions
  • Living support: provided for the stay in Belgium
  • International travel: covered under programme conditions
  • Insurance: included

Two deadlines you cannot miss

  • September 4, 2026 — deadline to request a new GIRAF account (first-time applicants)
  • September 18, 2026, 12:00 noon (Belgian time) — final scholarship application deadline

If you are a first-time applicant, start with the GIRAF account request this week — without it you cannot submit at all.

How to apply

Check the full list of the 10 programmes, the 32 eligible countries and the document requirements on our scholarship page, then complete your application through the GIRAF platform before the September 18 deadline.
