The program brings together advanced engineering subjects from an honours‑level engineering degree with a focused suite of project management units. Engineering study typically covers core technical areas such as engineering mathematics, mechanics and materials, electrical and/or mechanical systems, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics (depending on your major), computer‑aided design, systems modelling, and an engineering design project or research thesis at honours level.

The Diploma of Project Management components concentrate on the practical skills needed to deliver projects on time, on budget and to specification. Typical topics include project initiation and scope definition, scheduling and resource planning, cost estimation and financial control, risk management, procurement and contract fundamentals, stakeholder engagement and communications, quality and governance, leadership and team management, and a project management capstone or applied project.

Units are taught using a mix of lectures, tutorials, laboratory or workshop sessions for engineering subjects, and case studies, project work and workplace‑based assessments for project management topics. The curriculum emphasises applied learning — including project design and delivery — and the development of professional competencies such as technical problem solving, documentation, and project‑based teamwork.

Entry requirements

Entry to the combined pathway normally requires completion of secondary education (Year 12 or equivalent) with an appropriate level of mathematics; many engineering majors also expect background in physics or chemistry. Applicants with a prior tertiary qualification, relevant work experience or recognised vocational qualifications may be eligible for alternative entry or advanced standing into the diploma component.

For international applicants, proof of English language proficiency is required. Meeting minimum academic conditions does not guarantee admission — selection may consider your study background and capacity to complete an honours‑level engineering program.
