What you'll study

The programme focuses on the theory and practice of teaching adolescents and on methods for teaching specific secondary subjects. Subject-specific methods seminars cover planning, instruction and assessment tailored to disciplines such as English, mathematics, science, social studies or modern languages.

Study is a blend of campus-based seminars and field experiences. You will complete lesson planning and assessment projects, microteaching sessions, and a sustained clinical practicum or student-teaching placement in a partner secondary school. Coursework emphasises standards-based instruction, data-informed decision-making, classroom diversity and strategies for meeting the needs of learners with varied backgrounds and abilities.
