This master's programme provides in-depth coverage of contemporary accounting and auditing theory and practice. Core areas include advanced financial accounting and reporting under international standards, auditing theory and practice, management and cost accounting, taxation, corporate governance and ethics, and financial statement analysis. Students also study specialised topics such as forensic accounting, internal auditing, risk assessment and compliance, information systems for accounting and the use of data analytics in audit work.

The programme typically combines taught modules with a research component or professional practicum. Research methods and quantitative techniques for accounting research are taught to prepare students for a thesis or research project. Elective modules allow specialisation in areas such as public sector accounting, environmental and sustainability reporting, or audit quality and regulation.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a recognised undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or a closely related field. Candidates with significant professional experience in accounting or auditing and a relevant bachelor’s degree may also be considered.

Typical academic expectations include a strong performance in prior studies; applicants may be asked to provide transcripts, a curriculum vitae and references. Selection can include an interview and/or an assessment of research potential. Because the university operates primarily in Spanish, proficiency in Spanish is normally required for study and assessment; applicants whose first language is not Spanish may need to demonstrate language competence. Knowledge of English is an advantage for reading international literature and standards.
