What you'll study

The program emphasizes appraisal of practice environments, evidence-based practice to improve systems and outcomes, and leadership for quality-improvement work. Le Moyne offers two entry pathways:

• Post-master’s DNP: A 29-credit curriculum for nurses who already hold FNP certification. The full-time post-master’s option is structured for completion in two years and is delivered in a low-residency format.
• FNP to DNP: A direct-entry pathway for students with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Two options are provided: a four-year full-time track or a five-year part-time track. This pathway incorporates 810 hours of clinical practice embedded in the program.

All FNP coursework requires on-campus attendance once weekly (Mondays).

Career prospects

Graduates complete the program holding an FNP certificate in New York State and are eligible to sit for national Family Nurse Practitioner certification examinations offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Faculty maintain active practice roles as educators, administrators and nurse practitioners, supporting clinically relevant preparation for advanced practice roles and leadership positions across healthcare settings.
