The institution does not prescribe a single curriculum for homeschool entrants; instead students select from AU's broad program catalogue. Students grounded in classical education will find strong alignment in humanities offerings, including:

• The Classical Learning minor — described as the only such minor in Ohio, focused on critical thinking, moral formation and civic engagement.
• The Ashbrook Scholar Program — a rigorous, nationally recognised liberal-arts program in politics and history emphasizing great books and primary-source analysis.
• Humanities programs that prioritise the trivium (grammar, logic, rhetoric) and close reading, supporting development of advanced analytical and communication skills.

Entry requirements

Ashland accepts Classic Learning Test (CLT) scores for admission and is one of ten Ohio institutions to do so. Ashland offers targeted financial support for homeschooled students, including a Homeschool Scholarship that provides $1,000 per year toward tuition for first-time freshmen and an additional $1,000 per year for students who live in on-campus housing. The university states that about 98% of AU students receive some form of financial aid and also provides merit-based scholarships tailored to homeschool applicants.
