Suffolk University's Master of Science in Finance is a 31-credit graduate program offered on-campus, in hybrid format, and with a fall-only part-time online option (online enrollment requires waiving prerequisite courses). The program has a STEM designation and is affiliated with the CFA Institute and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Non-business majors or business majors who did not earn a B or better in certain courses within the last seven years may be required to complete up to an additional 4.5 credits.
The curriculum emphasizes practical coursework and simulation of real financial conditions. Core subject areas include corporate finance, portfolio management, investment banking and international finance. Students may tailor their studies through one of five concentrations: Corporate Finance; Financial Services & Banking; Financial Technology (FinTech); Investments; and Risk Management. The program provides preparation for the CFA and FRM exams and incorporates industry insights from a Young Alumni Advisory Board.
The program targets roles across commercial and investment banking, asset management, risk management, and related finance functions. Recent graduates have held positions such as Investment Operations Representative (Bank of New York Mellon), Analyst (BlackRock), Implementation Analyst (Clearwater Analytics), Audit & Assurance Assistant (Deloitte), Research Associate (Fidelity Investments), Fund Management Analyst (Goldman Sachs), Wealth Management Associate (JPMorgan Chase & Co.), and Senior Financial Analyst (U.S. Bank), among others.
All graduate applicants are automatically considered for merit-based awards of up to $27,700 at admission; no separate application is required. Application deadlines differ for fall and spring entry with earlier priority dates for fellowship/employment consideration; international and domestic applicant deadlines are designated separately.
