What you'll study

The program emphasizes interdisciplinary study of women’s experiences in political, cultural, religious, biological and intellectual contexts. Coursework and research investigate gender and intersecting identity categories as social constructions. Students design self-directed, flexible degree plans compatible with working schedules; course rotations and specific course descriptions are provided by the department.

Entry requirements

Admission is on rolling review. Applicants must hold a 3.0 GPA and supporting coursework in the liberal arts and sciences or interdisciplinary studies. Required application materials include:

• A written personal statement (approximately 1,000 words) describing background, interests, goals and how the TWU MA will support those goals.
• A writing sample preferably from an academic course of at least 1,300 words and no more than 2,600 words (excluding notes and references).
• Email addresses for two individuals who can provide letters of recommendation submitted through the application system.
• Official transcripts from every college or university attended (domestic applicants submit originals to TWU; international applicants must provide an evaluation from a NACES or AICE member service and should not send international transcripts directly to TWU).

Applicants pay an application fee ($50 domestic, $75 international) unless eligible for specific waivers. Prospective students who want a graduate assistantship must meet the university's general criteria for appointment.
