What you'll study

The certificate blends preparatory, foundational and specialty courses focused on energy applications of business concepts. The program structure and sample courses listed on the program page include:

Entry requirements

Regular admission requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the last 60 credit hours. Conditional admission is available for applicants with a 2.50–2.99 GPA in the last 60 hours (requires two letters of recommendation or professional references; students may take up to 12 graduate credit hours one course at a time and must earn a B or better; earning below a B triggers a GMAT requirement for readmission). Conditional admission with dean’s approval applies to GPAs between 2.25–2.49 and requires a GMAT (minimum 500 based on GPA), references, and possible essay; the same one-course-at-a-time and grade conditions apply. Students on conditional status move to regular status after completing at least 6 graduate credit hours in the certificate with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Official transcripts must be sent directly to the Graduate Studies Office (physical or approved electronic delivery) before application review begins; other supporting documents (recommendations, essays, resume) are submitted to the Graduate Studies Office.

The certificate is intended to give working professionals industry-specific business skills to advance within energy-related firms. The program targets those seeking advancement into analyst roles, management positions, or other business-focused responsibilities in the energy sector by combining accounting, finance, legal and managerial perspectives tailored to energy businesses.
