ACU’s Master of Divinity is a formational, context-focused graduate degree for people preparing for vocational ministry or seeking deeper theological and pastoral training. It suits those wanting a comprehensive, case-study driven curriculum with options for online, on-campus, or hybrid delivery and pathways into doctoral study.
Coursework combines theological foundations, biblical interpretation, ministry practice and language studies. Example courses listed by the program include:
The M.Div. offers concentrations in missions or ministry and uses case studies and ministry scenarios alongside opportunities for prayer and discussion with a local mentor. The program also functions as preparation for further graduate work (Ph.D., Th.D., D.Min.).
Applicants must submit a program application with the non‑refundable processing fee and official transcripts showing a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent. Candidates should have an approximate undergraduate B average in their area of focus or related field and evidence of an overall productive GPA. Additional materials required are two letters of recommendation, a 3–5 page reflective essay (typed, double spaced), and completion of an academic writing assessment.
Graduates are prepared for vocational ministry roles and for leadership within church contexts. Expected learning outcomes include integrating theology with contemporary culture, awareness of worldwide church history and practice (including the Stone‑Campbell heritage), leading and equipping church ministries, exercising pastoral care, and demonstrating growth in Christian character for faithful ministerial service.
The program page notes per‑credit cost and a per‑term resource fee; prospective students are also offered a stackable pathway in which an 18‑credit Graduate Certificate in Practical Ministry can be applied toward the M.Div. for cost savings. Applicants should contact ACU for current tuition assistance, scholarships, and payment options.
